Updates from Thatta
A large number of families shifted to Makli graveyard in Thatta after flood devastated their areas will celebrate their Eidul Fitr at makeshift camps and under the dilapidated tombs of former rulers in the graveyard. Earlier it was said 170,000 people migrated to Makli neighbourhood in Thatta, which was considered safe. Some families have shifted to their relatives after seeing returning normalcy in some of the areas. While a large number of the people are still living there.
Few displaced families moved back to their native villages, despite the fact entire infrastructure has been damaged. No water, electricity, gas supply has been restored yet there. They became fed up after witnessing the humiliation at relief camps, operating certain government officials, where law enforcing agencies personnel were deployed. Hardly a small number of the selected camps are luckily getting food by government officials and political groups, while majority of people living in the open do not have access to these facilities.
PFF Intervention
PFF Relief team is still in Thatta supplying water through water tankers to the scattered relief camps. They are working in close collaboration with the district government. PFF boats and vehicles are still there, helping people if somebody is staying in marooned village. The rescue and relief work is still going on there. PFF relief teams are also supplying ration and non food items to some 300 people staying at an isolated island near Jatti. Because these people do not have access to land routes and could not move to safe areas. Now they need ration for further to survive in isolation.
