World Forum of Fisher Peoples
In 1997, WFFP came into being. On the next year, PFF was founded. PFF became it member in 2004. WFFP is a federation of fishers, fishworkers and fisher support organizations mainly working in Asia, Africa but have friends in Canada and Europe. WFFP is fighting to protect the rights of indigenous small scale fishers, to protect fish resources and the coast, territories, lands and waters on which they have traditionally depended for their life and livelihoods. WFF P is against the globalization, WTO and World Bank’s lethal policies. Currently there are 35 member organizations from 35 countries. WFFP is run through a secretariat for which after two years election take place. The next election will be held in November 2010.
