Scattered rains were reported in different districts of Sindh on Wednesday, which panicked the already affected people. However, the flood water after breaches reported in Sanghar is streaming to Tando Allahyar and Mirpurkhas districts after inundating wide area.

Sanghar

The incessant rains caused horror everywhere, as despite huge loss of human lives, crops damages and infrastructure destruction people are reluctant to leave their abodes. These reports reached here from Sanghar where the people refused rescue teams to come out. But later, the Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum (PFF) team leaders said the fresh breaches to drainages inundated several villages, and the same people were crying for help. PFF teams call it carelessness, but they said majority of people they have brought out through boats and vehicles and shifted them to safer places. Some people traveled to their relatives while others were shifted to government schools and other buildings.

Sanghar

Fresh round of downpour panicked the already affected people in many areas, specially in parts of Sanghar the people were looking frightened. PFF teams visiting the area reported that after rains and breaches to drainages from three sides hit hard union council Kehor, near the district headquarter, submerged around 200 villages. The families left their areas and shifted to road sides but they are facing shortage of food, shelter, safe water. There is no fuel and the families, who have some ration, are unable to prepare food there. There is space, hence the people are in hurry to sell their animals, before they feel will die of hunger on their way to safer places.

District Badin

Badin is the worst affected rain since the district has received both rounds of the rains. Besides crops and infrastructure loss the people are now dying of hunger and disappearing health facilities in the areas. The PFF teams are visiting the area to help the people on their own and convincing them to shift their families to safer places. There is stinking, in the stagnant water which the area elders guess is might of the dead animals and human being all around. It is beyond the expectation that the people will not be able to find a safe way to shift their families. All major roads have been disconnected. Only well-off people might have shifted their families while majority could not move and now there is no safe way to go out.

Overall Current Situation
The devastated rains started on August 30, 2011 are reportedly pounding the already affected areas like Tharparkar and Badin districts upto compiling this updates. The government at last has appealed to international aid agencies to launch their relief works in different areas to save the people, who are living in the open, facing acute shortage of food, potable water and other problems.

Current scenario of incessant rains

The second round of rains started on August 30, 2011 has hit the districts of Sanghar, Matiari and Umerkot districts. Major villages have come under the water. The rain water destroyed hundreds of villages, compelling people to shift to safe government schools in Matiari and Sanghar. There is continuous rain since the last 36 hours in the areas. Fresh spell of rains also hit hard to Matiari and Sanghar where reports gathered by the PFF teams reveal that herdsmen are facing difficulties where to shift their animals as they are unable to save their families.

Rain, Flood Updates Sep 7, 2011

Current Situation

The second round of the monsoon rains affected almost all the parts of Sindh province, displaced four million people, destroying standing season crops, like cotton, vegetables, sugarcane. Teams of Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum (PFF) visiting the affected areas in their separate reports observed the deplorable condition, in which the displaced families are living. Mostly the people have found roadsides and embankments safe to shift their families and animals. Road network either has destroyed or facing pressure of flooding water everywhere, especially the situation in Badin and Thatta, being located tail-end are is the worst. The team members went to assess the situation could not respond because of collapsed communication network in Thatta and Badin.
